The current head of the Onoe Zaibatsu, Takuzo Onoe, receives an order from Kaito Kid. The plan is to steal two wakizashi swords belonging to Toshizo Hijikata, which are stored in the zaibatsu's warehouse in Hakodate, Hokkaido. Inspector Nakamori, who is pursuing Kid, becomes suspicious as to why Kid, who should be after a large jewel, is targeting the swords instead. Around the same time, a kendo tournament is held in Hakodate, and Heiji Hattori and Soshi Okita come to Hakodate to participate. Conan Edogawa, Mouri Ran, and Kazuha Toyama come to support Heiji. At the kendo tournament venue, Kazuha meets Hijiri Fukushiro, a student who gives her best performance. Aside from the tournament, Heiji searches for scenic spots around Hakodate in order to successfully confess his feelings to Kazuha, while Ran remembers Shinichi's confession in London, England and decides to tell Heiji about Mount Hakodate.
